This oral-dance tradition from Soe, East Nusa Tenggara, is dance carried out by men and women who form a circle and dance in rotation to the right while they sing. They sing in interactive a capella (muncung). A Bonet performance features one or two lead singers who vocalize the initial phrase of a melody that will diverge into two melodic possibilities, with one choir of singers carrying one melody and a second choir carrying and responding with a second melodic train. This traditional performance is performed at communal celebrations at the community hall as dictated by custom. This form of art exists in the regencies of Central Timor, South Timor, North Central Timor, and Belu. The ceremony always opens with Natuni a greeting ritual conducted by the host.
