Short Description:

Badenda is the spoken art form of the Cia-cia tribe in South East Sulawesi. This art form uses a few tambourines and one violin. The violinist also functions as the singer. The group consists of men only.

A Badenda performance is mainly used to accompany a mass dance performance. Female and male dancers dance together, in turn with the people in the audience. Badenda performances can be carried out during several community celebrations, such as circumcisions, weddings, etc.
