Ian Campbell was born in Sydney, Australia in March 1949. Now retired, he has interests in literature and also writes poetry in Indonesian with publications in Jakarta and Bandung mass media and literary journals. His Indonesian language poetry collection, Tak ada Peringatan, was ‘Highly Commended’ in 2013 in the Australian Arts in Asia Awards. He first studied Indonesian language at university in 1966 and holds postgraduate research qualifications, with a book publication, Contemporary Indonesian Language Poetry from West Java: National Literature, Regional Manifestations (2008). His Indonesia-related academic publications have appeared in literary and academic journals in Indonesia, Australia, Germany and the United States.
