Museum of Pure Desire

Rp150.000

By Nirwan Dewanto (Author); John McGlynn (Translator)

Museum of Pure Desire contains choice examples of contemporary Indonesian poetry whose richness derives from their destruction of the constraints that surround poetry. The author finds his source of inspiration anywhere, both in works of nature as well as in such human creations as paintings, music, allegories, photography, literature, and religious texts. None, however, are treated as points of reference or symbols of something else. They stand by themselves, with their own individual character but, at the same time, raise questions about their original form and lead the reader to unexpected vistas. Nirwan explores themes few Indonesian poets have ever done before.
