Dorothea Rosa Herliany (Magelang, Central Java, October 20, 1963) writes poetry, short stories, children’s books, and novels. Her poetry has been translated into multiple languages, and her latest book of poetry is bilingual in German and Indonesian: Der Messer Hochzeit / Nikah Pisau (translated by: Brigitte Oleschinski and Ulrike Draesner, Verlagshaus Berlin, 2015). She is frequently invited to read at international poetry events around the world. In addition to writing, she has been collaboratively organizing literary events for the last five years including the biennial “What’s Poetry Festival” and the annual “Borobudur Writers and Cultural Festival”. She also worked as a publisher of literary books for about ten years. She is the recipient of multiple literary awards, including the Khatulistiwa Literary Award for her poetry book Santa Rosa (2006) and for her novel Isinga, Roman Papua (2015).
